Description
Shanthona Womens Group is a local group based in Luton, Bedfordshire which provides free confidential advice and guidance support to families.
Shanthona Women's Group was established in 2004 as a community group and went on to become a registered charity in 2009. A management commitee, active local women and volunteers work collectively to form the group. Most of our clients come from Asian and BME backgrounds, for whom English is not their first language. The group therefore also provides a translation service of Bengali, Urdu and Hindi.
We have strong links with other providers of services and activities in Luton and we welcome people from a range of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Our objective is to enable users to gain more self-confidence, so they can empower themselves and support their family and friends and become a productive member of the community. Our work is focussed towards women who do not have access to the usual opportunities to be involved with social, cultural and community activities.
